Midnight

I've listed a new item on my Etsy page:

Midnight earrings - $5.00

Measuring approx. 55mm in length, including the earring hooks, these earrings are for pierced ears, and are made with silver plated earring hooks.

These elegant earrings are made using black coloured shell discs, silver metal discs, round white glass beads and cubed black glass beads.

These earrings are both elegant and unusual, and make an ideal gift, whether for a birthday, Christmas, special occasion or just because!

Snow day...

I woke up this morning to find that a blanket of heavy snow (the worst for 20 years) had fallen during the night. This was bad for travel, but meant a day off work! That and I made a giant snowman!

I saw these bikes when I walked into town, and they show just how bad it was! It is meant to get worse tonight, and then there is a frost forecast which means the whole of the south east of England will be one giant ice-rink...

Happy New Year

Wow, it's 2009 already! I can't quite believe it. Hopefully this year will be better than the last :)

Well, I've been making bracelets for my sister, and I thought that I'd post some photos of the process (but I sort of forgot to take them...). Here is a photo of the before shot.

I used round-nosed pliers, side cutter pliers, some head pins and purple glass cube beads from this lovely bead shop at the top of town. Here is the after photo:

I'm watching 'The Holiday' on DVD at the moment- Mum got a new projector and has hooked it up to the laptop. It's ;ike a cinema in here at the moment :)

Random Thoughts

I'm really hungry at the moment- my stomach won't stop rumbling. I need to restock the munchies at work in order to prevent this. I may even make some gingerbread men and take them in *not that I have an obsession with gingerbread men!*

For some unknown reason I woke up at about 4:30 this morning (not properly woke up, but I wasn't asleep) instead of being woken up by my alarm clock at 6:15. I was not impressed, and I couldn't get back to sleep again :( Instead I was thinking about what I had to do at work, and how to secure the small teddy bear in my car to the dashboard without sticking its fur to said dashboard with blu tack. I decided that the best way to go was to make the teddy (who is nameless) a personal seatbelt out of ribbon and blu tack. I think I'll have to get a photo, because it is hard to explain. I would go out and take a photo now, but I have put the frost cover over the windscreen and I'm not going out in the cold to take that off, take a photo and put it back again (basically I'm just lazy :P).

Mondays

I can't believe it took so long to scrape my car this morning- my hands were freezing. I had the heater at work on full blast (it was pointed at my feet- toasty!). I hope tomorrow is a bit warmer.

Lots of people have the week off, so it is quiet at the moment, which is quite nice, because I can catch up on work and learn new processes. Also it means there are more parking spaces available!

Apple Creation!

A few weeks ago, I attended a fund-raising 'Pampered Chef' evening, where a dish was made in front of me- a wreath of pastry with a savoury filling. It was very nice, but I thought that it would be even nicer if the filing was sweet- like an apple pie sort of thing...

Well, this morning the creation came to life. I used puff pastry, Cooking apples with a hint of cinnamon and sugar on top for a crunchy top (and custard)

It tasted as good as it looks! :)
